For as long as anyone could remember, life in the Acungi “A” community of Northern Uganda was dictated by water scarcity. That, however, became but a bad memory when, earlier this year, Lifeline constructed a piped water system and life in Acungi “A” changed forever.

The walls that Lifeline has been building around its newly created boreholes are not just protecting them from damage — they are being adorned with colorful images that serve as a learning tool and promote awareness of best hygienic practices.

Last year, Lifeline completed construction of a piped water system in Teboke — a community of about 1,100 people located in Apac District, Northern Uganda.

Just outside the town of Apac in a district by the same name, I met David Otim who, in March of this year, joined our drip irrigation initiative.

Last year, Lifeline began implementing a WFP-sponsored project involving the installation of fuel-saving institutional stoves in 63 primary and secondary schools in Uganda’s Karamoja region.
